Government Inefficiency Part Zillion: Tax Dollars Given to Contractors who are Delinquent in Taxes

June 4th, 2011 · No Comments

Joseph Henchman of Tax Policy Blog writes in Stimulus Package Contractors & Grant Recipients Owe $757M in Unpaid Taxes

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) has identified $757 million in known unpaid taxes from that at least 3,700 of the estimated 80,000 contractors and grant recipients who received funds from the Recovery Act stimulus bill enacted on February 17, 2009.

Is it too much to ask of our government that it ensure that grant recipients have paid their taxes before giving them our tax dollars?

Is this galling or what?

Think about it: The government dishes out tax dollars to delinquent taxpayers and then has the unmitigated temerity to ask for more tax dollars from those who have paid their taxes.

What an insult.
