- Linda Blair, The Exorcist -
God won today.
Not because he favors Republicans, but because he loathes the awful, beastly, dirty, disagreeable, filthy, foul, gross, grubby, hellish, horrible, horrid, icky, impure, loathsome, lousy, malodorous, mephitic, nauseating, noisome, noxious, objectionable, obnoxious, obscene, odious, ornery, outrageous, poison, polluted, repellent, repugnant, repulsive, revolting, sickening, soiled, squalid, stinking, unappetizing, unclean, uncleanly, ungodly, unholy, unpleasant, vile, vulgar, yucky Alan Grayson.
Mannerly and mild-mannered Republican Daniel Webster defeated Beelzebub by a whopping 18 percentage points. A resounding repudiation by 8th district Floridians of the brachiating¹ first-termer.
I don’t usually accuse people with whom I disagree of being bad human beings - each of us sees the world differently and as Dave Mason wrote and sang, “there ain’t no good guy, there ain’t no bad guy, there’s only you and me and we just disagree” – but in Grayson’s case I can’t separate the man from the office. Simply put, he is the most vile, hate-filled politician I have seen come along on either side of the aisle in my thirty-plus years of following politics.
And I’m not the only one who has this opinion.
Listen to these respected pundits:
There are hundreds of plausible nominees for the title of America’s Second-Smarmiest Politician, but surely the top spot is un-contested. Americans of all political persuasions can come together in affirming one proposition: Public life would be improved by scrubbing Rep. Alan Grayson from it. This act of civic hygiene probably will be performed Nov. 2 by voters of Florida’s Eighth Congressional District. Polls indicate that a majority of them plan to deny Grayson, 52, a second term by electing his resonantly named opponent, Daniel Webster.
“So, the man who called the health-care crisis in America a ‘Holocaust,’ enabled of course by Republicans whose health care plan is for you to ‘die, quickly,’ told Dick Cheney to ‘STFU,’ called a female Fed employee a ‘whore,’ thinks Tea Partiers wear sheets on their heads, wants his name emblazoned in neon outside his home office, and used taxpayer money to fund a two-hour DVD of his greatest, insane hits will not be raising the level of dialogue in this country, which as we know, is the fervent wish of all liberal activists.”
Contessa Brewer (MSNBC) (via Ed Morrissey of Hot Air)
If Grayson really wanted to air these issues, Brewer repeatedly points out towards the end of the interview, Grayson would have just stuck to the actual record. Instead, Grayson equated Webster to terrorists who murder people and “throw acid in girls’ faces,” as Brewer says. That’s not an honest approach to women’s issues; it’s a man exploiting women’s issues in order to lie and smear his opponent. Kudos to Brewer for knowing the difference and not retreating from it.
Congratulations, Floridians. This house is cleeeen!
