University of Miami: First Tier Law School, 20th in Number of Super Lawyers

December 4th, 2009 · 2 Comments

From the setting-the-record-straight department.

An emotionally fragile online cockroach took offense to my contention that one has to be smart to pass the CPA exam and decided to trash my law school alma mater by suggesting it was a “third tier law school.”

Alas, as is always the case with invertebrates, it got its facts wrong.

This is from the 2010 U.S. News Law School Rankings:

University of Miami Law School, Coral Gables, Florida

Rank                   Tier

  71                      1

And there’s this from TaxProf Paul Caron:

[U.S. News and World Report] Law & Politics, publisher of Super Lawyers magazines, has aggregated its rankings of law schools producing the most “Super Lawyers” in each state into an overall law school ranking which measures the total number of “Super Lawyers” that are graduates of each school.

Here are the Top 50 law schools and the size of their enrollment:

Your information is incorrect. The Super Lawyers law school ranking was published by Law & Politics, publisher of Super Lawyers magazines, and not by U.S. News & World Report.

    Bill,

Thanks. I corrected it. My apologies.
