Biblical Tax Verses

December 2nd, 2009 · 2 Comments

If government tax writers wrote the bible, this is what it might look like:

Verse # Bible Verse Tax Bible Addition
1 Timothy  5:18 “The laborer is worthy of his reward.” … minus 39.6%.
2 Peter  3:10 “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night.”  … and the day of big government will come as a thief in broad daylight.
Acts  9:5 “It’s hard for thee to kick against the pricks.”  … because the taxman fights back.
Colossians  2: 21 “Touch not; taste not; handle not.”  … because it’s your money, not.
Daniel  5:27 “Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.”  … you have 90 days to petition the Tax Court.
Acts  20:35 “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” … and the IRS wants you to be very, very blessed.
Luke  6:37 “Father, forgive them for they know what they do.”  … but smite those who file their tax returns late.
John 16:33 “Be of good cheer; I have overcome the world”.   … Doug Shulman – 2009 address to taxpayers.
Jeremiah 17:7 “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and has made the Lord his hope and confidence.”                                                                                      … and blessed is the taxpayer who trusts in President Obama and has made the bureaucracy his hope and confidence.
Matthew 11:28 “Come unto me, ye who are weary and overburdened, and I will give you rest.”

… which rest shall be funded by the confiscation of the wealth of others until they, too, are weary and overburdened.
