The press is the enemy.
- Richard M. Nixon -
As if we needed more proof that hypocrisy is alive and well in Washington D.C.
White House spokesmen David Axelrod and Rahm Emanuel went on the poli-talk shows yesterday and delivered this bogus line:
Fox News is not a news organization.
As I type this post MSNBC is reporting on this story. Female co-host Mika Brzezinski says that Fox is a right wing “perspective” organization rather than a true news organization. To his credit, her male co-host and the show’s namesake, Joe Scarborough, challenged her by asking the following question:
Can you think of any other organization that is a perspective organization?
Mika didn’t answer the question and Joe didn’t name the organization. But their timidity in pursuing that line of questioning is understandable because the offending organization happens to be their employer: MSNBC.
Let’s face it, you can have the IQ of Mike Tyson and be able to see that the White House objects to Fox News not because it has a perspective, but because it has the wrong perspective.
On the other hand, MSNBC has a perspective that supports the White House. Consequently, in the simplistic minds of Obama and his hacks, it is a true news organization.
Ugh!
Observation:
For the entire eight years of the Bush administration the Democrats lectured the rest of us about our civic duty to “speak truth to power.” It is the job of the media, we were told, to question authority, to play devil’s advocate and challenge those in power to justify their actions. Dissent is patriotic, they said.
What they failed to tell us, however, is that the duty to speak truth to power would expire the moment power was shifted from Republicans to Democrats.
