You gotta love irony.
Moonbattery reports that noted spelunker and one time Al Qaeda leader, Osama Bin Laden – or someone claiming to be him - has an interesting book-of-the-month selection:
In his latest tape, Osama bin Laden, or his ghost, recommends several books for Americans to read, including Jimmy Carter’s Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid:
While the voice on the tape does not mention this book by name, it calls on Americans to “read what your former president, Carter, wrote regarding Israeli racism against our people in Palestine.”
The book in question was too ridiculously one-sided even for the New York Times, whose reviewer wrote:
[Carter] simply offers a narrative that is largely unsympathetic to Israel. Israeli bad faith fills the pages. Hollow statements by Israel’s enemies are presented without comment. Broader regional developments go largely unexamined. In other words, whether or not Carter is right that most Americans have a distorted view of the conflict, his contribution is to offer a distortion of his own.
Given the clear preferences of our president for Islamic Terror Regimes like Iran’s over free democracies like Israel and Honduras, it’s increasingly clear that in 2008, Jimmy Carter finally won his second term.
Oh, I almost forgot, I promised you irony. Well, today in an NBC interview Mr. Carter had the audacity to lecture others on the perils of racism:
I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he’s African American. And that racism inclination still exists. And I think it’s bubbled up to the surface because of the belief among many white people, not just in the South but around the country, that African-Americans are not qualified to lead this great country. It’s an abominable circumstance, and it grieves me and concerns me very deeply.
The notion that opposition to Obama is based on his skin color and not his outlandish policies is pure liberal fantasy. Put Condi Rice and Colin Powell on a national ticket against a pair of white Democrats and we’ll see who the racists are.
Carter must have forgotten what he said after he was booted from office in 1981:
Thoughtful criticism and close scrutiny of all government officials by the press and the public are an important part of our democratic society.
Now that’s rich.

He had value hammering for Habit for Humanity. He should never have put the hammer down. Remember, he’s the same politician who gave us brother Billy; Momma Lillian; and sister Sister Ruth. Clampetts in the White House.

Imagine calling someone whom you’ve never met and whom you know nothing about something as vile as a “racist” and still being able to consider yourself a compassionate, tolerant human being.
Liberals stun me!
