Tomorrow is September 15th and the deadline for taxpayers to take the following actions:
- Third quarter estimated tax payments due for 2009 tax year.
- The filing of corporate tax returns if an extension was requested. (Forms 1120, 1120A, 1120S).
- The filing of trust tax returns (Form 1041) if an extension was requested.
- The filing of partnership tax returns (Form 1065) if an extension was requested.
Remember to mail your return or your estimated tax payment via certified mail, return receipt requested. If the IRS later contends that you filed your return late, a return receipt is the only proof that will allow you to avoid penalties.
