President Obama said in his press conference last night that he favors the House’s proposed surtax on wealthy Americans.
From the Wall Street Journal:
President Barack Obama, looking to pay for his ambitious health-care plan and shore up public support, endorsed a surtax on families earning $1 million a year for the first time Wednesday.
“To me, that meets my principle” that the cost of overhauling health care is “not being shouldered by families who are already having a tough time,” he said at a prime-time White House news conference.
It has become a cliche to gripe about gridlock on Capitol Hill, but be careful what you wish for.
The opposite of gridlock is single party control of the levers of Government. And right now that means reckless spending funded by Chavezian confiscations of wealth.
This is not how America became the world’s only economic superpower. It became so by rewarding and incentivizing perseverance, productivity and prosperity, not by stigmatizing and punishing them.
Elections do indeed have consequences.
Educate yourself and then vote!
