Kidney Salesman and Tax Evader Gets 10 Years

June 13th, 2009 · No Comments

Last month in a post titled Body Parts Trafficker Nailed for Tax Evasion we wrote about the conviction of one Ernest Nelson a California man who stole body parts from UCLA medical school and sold them to research companies.

Well, Joe Kristan of Tax Update Blog reports that he’s been sentenced:

A former mortuary worker convicted of carving up and selling cadavers . . . was sentenced to 10 years in prison Thursday and ordered to pay more than $1.7 million in fines, restitution and unpaid taxes.

Joe compares this modern day Igor to Al Capone who was also nabbed for not reporting his illegal income.

Funny how both Capone and Nelson seem to have been in complete denial about their responsibility to report illegal gains.

It reminds me of the scene in the movie Young Frankenstein when the title character, meeting Igor for the first time, tells him he’s a surgeon and can help him with his hump.

Igor gives the doctor a puzzled look then replies:

“What hump?”
