Florida Contractor Hires Hitman to Have IRS Auditor Murdered

August 4th, 2008 · No Comments

I have seen a lot of “how to prepare for a tax audit” lists in my 25 years of representing taxpayers, but I must say I have never seen “murder the auditor” on a single one of them.

Guess the IRS Only has One Auditor . . . Nyuk, nyuk.

But it must have been high on Florida Contractor, Randy Nowak’s to do list because that is exactly what he tried to do.  Mr. Nowak, a wealthy Florida construction company owner, hired a hitman (really an undercover FBI agent) to murder his IRS auditor because the auditor had found that he underpaid his taxes by $300,000.00.  Kay Bell reports that Mr. Nowak was worried that the auditor would find the $4,000,000.00 Nowak had on deposit in foreign bank accounts.

Joe Kristan said what I think everyone reading about this fool Nowak must have been thinking,

Just kill a federal agent and destroy a federal office building, and then the exam just… goes away? I’m not sure he really thought this through very well.

That’s one smart contractor.
